I didn’t notice how busy I’ve been until I wrote it all down one day at jury duty a few months ago. The questionnaire wanted to know what I did for a living. That’s such a hard question for me because a lot of what I spend my time on would actually be categorized as volunteer work. I am on the board of a parent organization at my son’s high school. I serve at our church both as a volunteer and paid staff. I show up to serve (not as often as I’d like) to my daughter’s school, too. I meet up with parishoners and friends for dinners, lunches, coffee. I still have one foot in my secular career (legal technology) and maintain my LinkedIn profile as such. Most of the time, I simply ask for prayers to keep up with all that I’m doing and hope that it’s all making a difference for my family and friends as well as people I’ll never meet.
